Event Details

Pact will be on the road in January and February 2010 to bring Pact members all the latest industry info that you can’t afford to be without. We will be holding Briefing Events in Leeds, Manchester, Cardiff, Belfast, Glasgow and Bristol. The half-day sessions will cover important developments in:

·         data protection

·          legislation surrounding filming with children

·          diversity

·         product placement

Plus any other changes that could affect Pact members in the Nations and Regions.

Dawn Simpson, Senior Policy Executive for Nations and Regions will be giving an update on issues and campaigns which Pact are actively involved in for the Nations and Regions, including changes to the Ofcom Out of London definition, product placement, a new BBC-funded Out of London project and access to funding opportunities for MIPTV.

Diversity is high on the industry agenda right now. Commissioners  are on the hunt for diverse ideas and broadcasters want to know if you’ve signed up to the CDN Pledge before they green-light your project.  Diversity Adviser, Angela Chan will be running an interactive session on signing up to the Pledge, with inspiration on how you can make diversity work for you and your business.

Amanda Russell, Head of Legal Affairs at Pact, will be briefing you on the new data protection Guidelines which will soon be implemented by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4 and Five, with a guest speaker from the BBC. There will also be an update on the Government review announced on 14th December regarding the 1968 Children Performance Regulations.  This review follows on from the DCSF examination of the Regulations and their interest in extending the Regulations to factual programming.

Amanda will also be advising on the new ISA (Independent Safe Guarding Authority) registration requirements. This is a new registration system in place for individuals who work with children. Production companies who film with children will have to ensure the relevant people are ISA registered or risk being in breach of the Safeguarding Vulnerable People Act 2006.

Drinks will be held after the briefings with the opportunity to receive one-to-one advice from Pact advisers.
